I have been blogging for over two years, and my interests/ideas for the blog has morphed and changed since then. For the past couple months I have felt out of my element with every post– I think because my own life direction have changed since the beginning of the blog.
I want to find my niche.
When I started The Adventures of VEGirl, I wanted to share gluten-free and vegan recipes with people in similar diet situations. Then a few months ago I started testing gluten, and my whole identity felt like it was crashing away. (In case you are wondering, I am still investigating that– I seem to be able to eat it without a problem but I am trying to see if symptoms may come back with extended periods/frequency of eating, etc).
Nowadays, I still have a passion for food (although baking took a backseat when I was in the depths of disordered eating and in the healing process, and is only beginning to come back), but that passion has taken a new direction and motive– environmentalism. I am convinced that you can create healthy, allergen-free, vegan baked goods and dishes that can fit any diet– and be good for the environment. I want to discover new ways of living that inspire the senses and help the earth come back to its natural state. It’s a lofty goal, and an ongoing process, but it is what I want to write about. I feel like I am onto something important!
So, friends, I have a new vision for the blog.
What you will be seeing in the future:
- Recipes that showcase local ingredients and innovative, eco-friendly ways of eating.
- Lifestyle tips for environmentally and animal friendly living
- Rat posts (about care, interaction, etc). You didn’t think I could have a blog without my rats, did you?
- Photography to illustrate all ideas and posts.
I don’t know how it will all play out, but at this point at my decision. Looks like I need to get started on a new header!
